| Hitting age 73 this year just made Frances Dempsey kick into high gear. She is the Founding Director and Choreographer of the exciting and in-demand DALLAS TAP DAZZLERS, a non-profit group of 25 talented ladies who have been performing fast-paced jazz and tap routines since 1990 throughout the Metroplex, as well as featured performers in other cities and out of State. Among hundreds of appearances and winners of five national dance competitions, they enthusiastically opened for a Lee Greenwood concert in Dallas; performed on the prestigious Morton Myerson Symphony stage; appeared in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York; selected by country band, Cross Canadian Ragweed, to appear in their first country music video, which went on to be nominated by the Country Music Awards. Fran was born and raised in Dallas’ Oak Cliff, selected as Captain of the Sunset High School Bisonettes, then at Kilgore College, served as a Rangerette Lieutenant. She moved to Farmers Branch in 1969 with husband Tom and daughter Paula. She and Tom are both active members of the First Baptist Church in Richardson (yes, some Baptists DO dance!). She directed a ladies choral ensemble for 10 years before exchanging her song sheets for tap shoes. Fran served as Secretary for the inaugural Follies Executive Board and is an up-beat, fun-loving person, excited to participate in each of the Follies five years with the Dazzlers as well as in a Vaudeville comedy act with the forever-young Follies founder, Ned Startzel.
