Joyce Lawrence has been a member of the Dallas Tap Dazzlers since 1992.  She is an Advisory Board member and assists as an event coordinator for upcoming performances. She also advises on new costumes whether they ask her opinion or not!  Joyce is one of the members of the specialty group performing "Proud Mary."

Joyce retired after having worked for 24 exciting years as a Legal Assistant for one of Dallas' prominent criminal defense attorneys. She has had the opportunity of working with some of the best and most known criminals around!  She has learned now that it is true what "they" say about being too busy to work after having retired!

Until moving to DeSoto 10 years ago, Joyce lived and went from grade school through high school in Oak Cliff.  Yes, she's an "Oak Cliff O" and proud of it!  She attended W. H. Adamson High School and supports the endeavors to prevent the demolition of her beloved school.  She also serves on her Class Reunion Board.  They are currently planning their 50th(!) class reunion for 2011.  Joyce will be coordinating the entertainment for the event.  Can you say "Elvis"!

Joyce and her husband of 14 years, Roger, have a blended family of 12 kids (counting sons-and-daughters-in-law) and 14 grandchildren, and one old, fat dog, MaeMae!.  She's especially proud of her oldest grandson who is presently serving a second tour in Iraq but it is hoped that he will be home by the time this goes to print.  The Dazzlers performed at DFW and greeted troups for her grandson's homecoming after his 1st tour of duty.

Yes, she's a dancing Baptist!  Joyce and her husband attend Hampton Road Baptist Church in DeSoto, and are very active.  Joyce is Chair of the Publicity Committee and writes and works with all media sources to get published all notices of upcoming events and special programs taking place within the Church.  Not only does she sing in the Church choir, but also serves as the Choir Librarian, organizing, filing, maintaining the extensive music collection.   She also serves on various committees and boards on an as-needed basis. 

Joyce and Roger do not plan to slow down any time soon!  Just like that pesky rabbit, they just keep going and going and going......
