Paula Franks

Paula Franks began training as a professional dancer at Houston Ballet Academy in Houston, Texas where she studied with such teachers as Ben Stevenson, James Clouser, Nina Papova, and Gilbert Rome.


She spent summers studying with San Francisco Ballet, Bill Martin-Viscount in Fort Worth, Robert Joffrey Ballet, and Luigi in New York City. Her professional career began with Patsy Swayze's Houston Jazz- Ballet Company where she danced for several years. Besides local concerts with Houston Pops Orchestra the company toured the state of Texas as well as for Dance Masters of America Conventions in Miami Beach, Florida, Orlando, Florida and Atlantic City, New Jersey. She also helped Patsy Swayze at the conventions as her demonstrator and assistant. After leaving Houston Jazz-Ballet Company, she joined Delia Stewart Dance Company and Glen Hunsucker's Dancin, The Company in Houston. She also toured with Young Audiences of Houston's production of Peter and the Wolf where she was a featured dancer in several roles. Paula also has numerous professional musical theatre credits including productions of Scrooge, Carousel, and The Music Man with Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) in Houston, Texas and Garland Summer Musicals productions of Hello Dolly, Brigadoon, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Besides being a performer, she has taught ballet, tap, jazz and lyrical dance at several studios in the area as well as a public charter school. Paula holds an Associate of Arts Degree from Richland College, and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Amberton University. Paula currently enjoys performing with More Than Music at retirement facilities around the Dallas area.

She is married for more than 35 years to her husband and has a toy poodle that they adore.
